Pezeshkian Denounces Western Allegations on Iran’s Nuclear Program as Unfounded

New york: President Masoud Pezeshkian has declared that Western accusations regarding Iran’s nuclear activities lack foundation, asserting that Iran operates within international legal frameworks and aims for peaceful relations with other nations. Pezeshkian made these comments during an interview with Fox News while attending the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Pezeshkian reiterated Iran’s stance against nuclear weapons, emphasizing that such armaments have no place in the country’s doctrine. He assured the international community that Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons and criticized the United States and Israel for actions that contradict their commitments. On the topic of uranium enrichment, Pezeshkian acknowledged that the 60 percent enrichment level might exceed regular energy requirements but noted it was conducted under international oversight until the US’s withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear agreement.

Pezeshkian criticized the United States’ decision to exit the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which disrupted international monitoring and caused European companies to cease cooperation with Iran. He argued that following the US withdrawal, the failure of European commitments led Iranian experts to continue their work outside the JCPOA framework.

Discussing future US-Iran relations, Pezeshkian highlighted prevailing distrust in Iran due to perceived bad faith and unfulfilled commitments by the US. He accused the US of supporting Israel in actions that destabilize Iran and the region. Pezeshkian blamed US sanctions for economic challenges in Iran, arguing that the US has consistently sought to undermine Iran’s self-sufficiency since the Islamic Revolution.

Pezeshkian depicted Iran’s nuclear program as peaceful, designed to meet scientific and energy needs. He also referenced the 12-day war imposed by Israel, which he claimed strengthened Iran’s national unity and international respect for Iranian symbols.

Addressing Middle Eastern peace, Pezeshkian urged Israel to alter its trajectory, accusing it of human rights violations with US support. He condemned Israel’s disregard for international law and its aggressive policies, which he said foster regional instability.

On the topic of Iran’s regional allies, Pezeshkian dismissed Western claims of extremism, portraying groups like Hamas and Hezbollah as resistance movements against Israeli oppression. He insisted Iran supports oppressed nations rather than fueling instability through proxies.

Pezeshkian emphasized Iran’s improved relations with neighboring countries, asserting Iran’s commitment to peace and non-interference in accordance with international law. He claimed the region’s insecurity stems from Israeli actions, not Iran’s.

The president advocated for dialogue over conflict, stressing adherence to international law as a means to avoid war. He called for cooperation based on international agreements to resolve issues.

Regarding women’s rights, Pezeshkian highlighted women’s active roles in Iran and countered Western intelligence narratives. He invited observers to visit Iran to witness the reality of women’s freedoms and roles in society.
