New york: President Masoud Pezeshkian will travel to New York on Tuesday to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, the director-general of the Presidential Office's Public Relations Department says. Habibollah Abbasi told IRNA on Monday that Pezeshkian will address the UN General Assembly and hold meetings with a number of heads of state and senior officials attending the gathering.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the president is also scheduled to meet Iranian expatriates, as well as US intellectuals and representatives of American think tanks. The 81st session of the UN General Assembly opened on September 8 under the theme 'Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All.'

The high-level general debate is scheduled to begin on September 22, with Pezeshkian expected to deliver his address on Wednesday, September 23. The United States has approved visas for Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to attend the gathering.
