Bushehr: President Masoud Pezeshkian has declared that the United States is not genuinely interested in engaging in negotiations with Iran but rather wants the nation to capitulate to U.S. demands. Addressing a gathering in Bushehr, southern Iran, President Pezeshkian questioned the intentions of U.S. President Donald Trump, pointing out the contradiction between imposing sanctions and calling for negotiations.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, President Pezeshkian highlighted the inconsistency in President Trump's approach. 'We're not saying that we don't negotiate, but Trump can't impose all kinds of sanctions on us and then speak of negotiating. Why would he block food and water and medicine from us?' he stated. He emphasized that the U.S. actions aim to subdue Iran rather than engage in meaningful dialogue.

President Pezeshkian expressed confidence that Iranians can overcome challenges independently. He stressed the importance of self-reliance and having a strategic plan to move forward, assuring that external adversaries will not impede Iran's progress. The president also called on Iranian youth to develop skills and determination to address the nation's issues, emphasizing that Iran's future should not be dependent on foreign decisions.

The backdrop to these statements is President Trump's recent memorandum to resume 'maximum pressure' on Iran, while simultaneously expressing a desire to negotiate a deal. President Pezeshkian criticized this dual approach, stating that Trump's actions contradict his words. Echoing these sentiments, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has advised against negotiating with Trump's administration, deeming it unwise.
