President Pezeshkian Calls for Unity to Tackle Economic Challenges

Accra:Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian has urged government officials to put aside divisive disputes and focus on mobilizing all available resources to address the nation's economic issues, emphasizing that national unity could transform economic hardships into opportunities for resolving long-standing problems.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Pezeshkian, speaking at a cabinet meeting, underscored the necessity of cooperation and clearly defined roles in mosque-led neighborhood initiatives to meet local needs and build social trust. He advocated for the involvement of experts, philanthropists, and volunteer groups, with coordinated services and responsibilities to ensure effective aid.

Efforts to curb excessive fuel consumption and smuggling were also highlighted by the president. Authorities have reviewed vulnerabilities in sectors such as oil, roads and urban development, agriculture, and industry, mining, and trade. As part of these measures, 600,000 diesel fuel cards lacking valid identification have been deactivated.

Pezeshkian noted that coordinated initiatives have eliminated the need to import gasoline, saving the country $8 billion. He also mentioned the ongoing reconstruction of damaged industries, roads, bridges, and utilities despite wartime conditions.

He attributed the progress to the dedication of public employees, managers, and citizens, stressing that national cohesion and persistent effort are crucial for overcoming challenges.

In a related development, the President's social affairs aide Ali Rabiei echoed similar sentiments at a meeting in Isfahan. Rabiei emphasized the importance of social cohesion in facing wartime and crisis conditions, warning that adversaries are attempting to incite public unrest. He called for increased public awareness and stronger engagement between civil society institutions and the public.
