President Pezeshkian Highlights Women’s Role in Iran’s Development at Kurdish Women Conference

Baku:Tehran President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized the crucial role of women in Iran's progress, asserting that sustainable development necessitates acknowledging their abilities and providing equal opportunities for their active involvement in society.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Pezeshkian conveyed these sentiments on Sunday in a message to the National Conference of Kurdish Women held in Kurdistan Province. He underscored the historical, cultural, and social contributions of Kurdish women to Iran, highlighting the importance of recognizing their identity and achievements to honor women’s status and preserve the nation’s cultural heritage.

The president stressed the need for the conference to produce credible research and conduct deeper studies on women's roles, alongside developing practical programs to support their talents and abilities. He described Kurdish women as an integral part of Iran's historical memory and social capital, suggesting that documenting their experiences and achievements could enhance national solidarity and cultural connections.

Reflecting on his personal experiences, Pezeshkian, originally from the Kurdish city of Mahabad, recalled the courage and perseverance of women in the region during the Iran-Iraq war. He noted their significant role in defending their homeland while maintaining family life and raising children under challenging wartime conditions.

Pezeshkian further advocated for recording these women's lives and sacrifices to ensure their stories and the values of dedication and resistance are passed on to younger generations. He emphasized the necessity for broad public participation, the recognition of ethnic and cultural diversity, and the creation of opportunities for human potential to flourish across the country.

In closing, President Pezeshkian praised the contributions of Kurdistan and other Kurdish regions to Iran's development and expressed optimism that the conference would foster cultural ties and create more equitable opportunities for women.
