President Pezeshkian: Iran’s Armed Forces Key to National Strength

Tehran: President Masoud Pezeshkian has praised Iran's Armed Forces for their role in defending the country during recent wars, while stressing that national unity, political cooperation, and coordination between the government and the military are essential to preserving its strength and security. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, President Pezeshkian spoke at a meeting with secretaries-general of political parties and political activists in Tehran, emphasizing the sacrifices and resistance of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Armed Forces. He highlighted their decisive role in confronting recent attacks and safeguarding the country's national power. The president acknowledged the efforts of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army, Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Basij, and other forces in defending the country despite political differences, emphasizing the need for ongoing support and appreciation. He warned that weakening the Armed Forces would compromise a vital national asset and recognized the sacrifices of commanders martyred in recent conflicts. He further underscored the importance of coordination between the government and Armed Forces on diplomatic issues, referencing the recent Islamabad memorandum of understanding. Military officials were reportedly involved in discussions, ultimately leading to the decision that pursuing an understanding was the best course of action. President Pezeshkian noted that Iran's challenges could not be addressed through military strength alone, advocating for political and social cohesion. He cautioned that adversaries are increasingly focusing on creating internal divisions rather than just military confrontation. Unity and cohesion were presented as central pillars of national power, with President Pezeshkian urging that political differences should not lead to internal conflict. He called on all political and social currents to contribute to addressing economic and social problems, urging political parties to focus on public service in areas such as livelih oods, employment, housing, and healthcare. The president also emphasized realistic policymaking based on knowledge and data, warning against pursuing policies out of insistence without advancing national objectives. He advocated for reducing unnecessary bureaucracy, expanding public participation, and delegating authority to provincial and local officials, emphasizing Iran's substantial human and material capacities. In conclusion, President Pezeshkian stressed the importance of fair treatment for all Iranians and called for political competition to serve the public interest. Stronger cooperation between political forces, society, the government, and the Armed Forces, he stated, would help protect Iran's independence, security, and national interests.
