Islamabad: President Masoud Pezeshkian was officially welcomed by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in a ceremony held at the prime minister’s office in Islamabad on Sunday. During the ceremony, the two leaders observed a guard of honor, and members of their respective delegations were introduced. As a symbol of friendship between the two nations, President Pezeshkian planted a tree on the grounds of the Pakistani prime minister’s office.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the visit is set to include the signing of several cooperation agreements in areas such as free trade, transportation, border cooperation, tourism, and cultural exchange. Both leaders are expected to deliver remarks to the media following the signing ceremony.
Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, earlier stated that the agreements reflect a shared commitment to strengthening bilateral ties in key strategic sectors. Pezeshkian arrived in Islamabad on Saturday at the head of a high-ranking political-economic delegation. He was welcomed by Sharif upon arrival.
