Islamabad: A delegation from the Supreme Council of the Free Trade-Industrial and Special Economic Zones has discussed initiatives to deepen economic cooperation with Pakistan and invited its businessmen to invest in Iran’s free zones.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the delegation, led by the council’s Secretary Reza Masrour, met with officials of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a group of prominent Pakistani businessmen on Sunday. This meeting marked the second day of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s official visit to Pakistan.
The discussions between the two sides led to agreements on organizing joint exhibitions and cross-border trade initiatives. An important highlight of the talks was the establishment of a joint border free zone, aimed at enhancing mutual cooperation between Iran and Pakistan.
Further, both parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in trade, joint investments, and industrial collaboration, emphasizing the need for mutually beneficial economic initiatives. Reza Masrour highlighted the potential of Iran’s free trade zones, with a particular focus on the Chabahar Free Zone. He invited Pakistani businessmen to explore investment opportunities in Iran.
The Iranian delegation also proposed enhancing bilateral cooperation through a memorandum of understanding between Chabahar Free Zone and the Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
During the meeting, Pakistani officials expressed solidarity with the Iranian people over the 12-day war imposed by the Israeli regime in mid-June, extending condolences to the families of the victims. In a gesture of collaboration, Nasir Mansoor Qureshi, President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, invited Iran to participate in the international industrial exhibition organized by the chamber next month.
