Tehran: President Masoud Pezeshkian has called on universities to leverage their scientific capacities to address the challenges facing Iran. Emphasizing the pivotal role of academic institutions, he stated that universities must lead efforts to resolve national issues.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, President Pezeshkian made these remarks during a visit to the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. He articulated his belief that every problem has multiple potential solutions and stressed the importance of universities being proactive in their application of scientific knowledge to societal challenges.
During the visit, the President received a report on the status of higher education, focusing on the performance of universities and the impact of the imposed war. He acknowledged the contributions of the academic community to scientific progress and stressed the importance of maintaining educational continuity and dynamic scientific activities, particularly in critical situations.
President Pezeshkian highlighted the diverse specializations within universities, including fields such as economics, agriculture, and sociology, and called for academics to actively engage in problem-solving beyond the confines of the campus. He emphasized the role of elites and academics in addressing the country's challenges, especially in the face of external pressures related to Iran's scientific advancements.
In his speech, President Pezeshkian also underscored the importance of involving youth in social and economic sectors to enhance the country's competitiveness in innovation and problem-solving. He addressed regional and international developments, particularly the US-Israeli conflict with Iran, and urged regional nations to unite against aggressive approaches and promote cooperation and cohesion.
