According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the holy city witnessed an exceptional funeral ceremony held in an atmosphere of grief and mourning for the family members of the martyred Leader.

Citing field sources, the Iraqi outlet reported that the remains were brought to the shrines of Imam Hussein and his brother Abolfazl al-Abbas (Peace Be Upon Them) for blessing and farewell ceremonies attended by prominent religious scholars and large crowds of mourners.

Meanwhile, Najaf also hosted official and public funeral ceremonies for Ayatollah Khamenei from the early hours of Wednesday. Large numbers of mourners gathered along streets leading to the shrine of Imam Ali (PBUH) as funeral rites continued with the participation of Iraqi citizens, pilgrims, and religious figures.

The remains of the martyred Leader and several members of his family arrived at Najaf International Airport on Tuesday evening, where senior Iranian and Iraqi officials held an official reception before the funeral ceremonies began.
