Qatar’s Persistent Efforts for Full Implementation of Gaza Ceasefire

Doha: Qatar has announced its ongoing push for the complete implementation of the agreed ceasefire plan in Gaza, despite resistance from Israel. Foreign ministry spokesperson Majed al Ansari emphasized Doha's commitment to advancing efforts to implement the Gaza ceasefire plan during a news conference on Tuesday.

According to TRTworld.com, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected a 15-point Gaza ceasefire plan, maintaining that Hamas must disarm first. This stance contrasts with the roadmap issued by US President Donald Trump's Board of Peace on July 31, which outlines a gradual and parallel process for Hamas disarmament and Israeli withdrawal.

Addressing the broader regional crisis, Ansari highlighted that Qatar's current initiatives aim to reduce tensions and restore US-Iran dialogue. "At this stage, our efforts are focused on stopping the escalation and bringing both sides of the crisis back to the dialogue table," he stated. Qatar also seeks an agreement for reopening the Strait of Hormuz and reaching a ceasefire simultaneously.

In response to the incident involving Iranian pilots entering Qatari airspace, Ansari reported finding the remains of one of the two pilots on March 19, which were subsequently returned to Iran. However, Tehran has not yet responded to Qatar's invitation to send a technical team to observe the search operations.
