Moscow: A Russian journalist has asked German Chancellor Friedrich Merz whether the killing of several Al Jazeera journalists in Gaza is among the ‘dirty work’ he said Israel carries out on behalf of Western powers. ‘Is the killing of journalists in Gaza one of those dirty works you have asked this regime to do?’ Abbas Jomaa said in an interview with IRNA correspondent in Moscow on Tuesday, referring to the deaths of five Al Jazeera journalists and cameramen, including well-known correspondent Anas al-Sharif.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Jomaa expressed astonishment at whether the assassination of these journalists serves the interests of Friedrich Merz, Emmanuel Macron, or Donald Trump. He questioned what these leaders would say about such a crime.

Jomaa, who has more than a decade of experience working in crisis zones, added that ‘in a war where one of the parties is a war criminal, the journalist becomes the main target,’ comparing the situation in Gaza to Syria, where army forces backed by Iran and Russia fought terrorists from various factions.
