Russian Scholar Warns Against War with Iran as Unwise Decision

Moscow: Vitaly Naumkin, the research director of the Institute of Oriental Studies at the Russian Academy of Sciences, has stated that initiating a war against Iran would be an extremely unwise decision, with no justifiable grounds to support such action.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Naumkin remarked that threats of war against Iran are notably intense, arising from countries across the ocean, including the United States, as well as from Israel, some European powers, and the collective West. He made these comments during an interview with TASS, ahead of the 14th Middle East Conference hosted by the Valdai Discussion Club.

Naumkin emphasized that Iran does not possess nuclear weapons and has no intention of acquiring them. Despite this, he pointed out that Iran is a large and formidable nation, and engaging in war with it would be madness. He further noted that there is a strong sentiment in America favoring the use of force against Iran, but expressed hope that President Donald Trump might choose a different approach. Naumkin concluded by stating that only time will reveal the course of action that will ultimately be taken.
