SCO Anti-Terrorism Drill Emphasizes Security Synergy

Minsk:The deputy commander for operations of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Forces highlighted the primary focus of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization's (SCO) joint anti-terrorism exercise as security synergy among member states and confronting extremist activities and violent groups.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Brigadier General Vali Ma'dani discussed Iran's participation in the 'Eurasia-Anti Terror 2026' international exercise. He stated that the drill aims to strengthen defense diplomacy and enhance coordination in addressing regional security threats.

The exercise, hosted by Belarus, involves 14 SCO member countries and affiliated committees, with more than 100 senior military and security officials participating. The IRGC Ground Force's special units represent the Iranian Armed Forces in this three-day event.

Ma'dani emphasized improving security and counterterrorism cooperation as Iran's main strategic objective in the exercise. He also highlighted the importance of exchanging experiences to tackle emerging security threats effectively.

Iran's previous hosting of the SCO's 'Sahand 2025' anti-terrorism exercise underscores Tehran's ongoing commitment to regional security cooperation and defense diplomacy.
