Tehran: President Masoud Pezeshkian said the heads of state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization condemned the Israeli attack on Iran, said the attack was carried out with US cooperation, and said member countries considered the assault illegal and a violation of nations’ rights.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Pezeshkian arrived in Tehran on Wednesday afternoon after attending the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization Heads of State Summit and SCO Plus meeting and after attending a military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. In brief remarks at Mehrabad Airport about his trip to China, he said the trip provided an opportunity to hold discussions with the presidents and prime ministers who attended the SCO Summit.
He said he met with the presidents of Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey, and with the prime minister of Pakistan. He said his talks with the Russian president lasted nearly four hours and covered economic, scientific, regional, nuclear matters and issues related to the snapback mechanism.
He said the foreign ministers of Iran, China, and Russia signed a letter protesting the behavior of three European countries in triggering the snapback mechanism and that the letter was submitted to the United Nations Security Council.
He said he met with his Chinese counterpart, that agreements were reached and views were exchanged, and that other issues would be followed up by foreign and economy ministers.
He said the Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics, who accompanied him, held discussions on security and defense equipment and that necessary follow up will be conducted in this area.
He said he held brief discussions with other officials on the sidelines of the summit and that those discussions offered an opportunity to foster understanding, empathy and solidarity.
He said he expects the agreements reached at the summit to be pursued domestically and that implementing them would affect economy, security, science, tourism and social issues with neighboring countries and other summit participants.
He said he asked God for strength and perseverance to confront unilateralism, which he described as law of force rather than logic, so that logic and justice can be established.
