Beirut: Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem has firmly stated that the Lebanese resistance movement will not accept any new proposals for disarmament, insisting that the existing ceasefire agreement should be upheld instead.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Sheikh Qassem made these remarks at an event commemorating 40 days since the martyrdom of Brigadier General Mohammad-Saeed Izadi, the head of the Palestine Department at the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC). He criticized Israel for repeatedly violating the existing ceasefire agreement, emphasizing that Hezbollah has fully adhered to the ceasefire terms without any violations against the enemy or in cooperation with the state.

Sheikh Qassem added that the Israeli regime has breached the agreement thousands of times and expressed that Israel regrets the agreement because it allows Hezbollah to maintain its military strength in Lebanon. This has led to Tel Aviv’s refusal to comply with the ceasefire terms.

The Hezbollah leader also condemned US intervention, suggesting that Washington’s proposals are aimed at weakening Lebanon and its resistance. He accused the US of attempting to strip Lebanon of its defensive capabilities, including the resistance and the army’s right to possess weapons to counter Israeli aggression.

Referring to a reported US plan, Sheikh Qassem mentioned that US special envoy Tom Barrack demanded the disarmament within 30 days of even simple weapons like handheld grenades and mortar shells. He firmly rejected any new negotiations, insisting that Hezbollah does not agree to any new agreement and that the old agreement should be implemented. Any proposed timeline set under the framework of Israeli aggression is unacceptable to Hezbollah.
