Some 100,000 Rally in Dhaka Against Israeli Actions in Gaza

Dhaka: Some 100,000 people have taken to the streets of Bangladesh's capital, Dhaka, to condemn Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the protesters gathered at Suhrawardy Park in the Dhaka University area, carrying Palestinian flags.

The demonstrators chanted slogans such as 'Free, Free Palestine' and carried symbolic coffins and effigies representing civilian casualties associated with the U.S.-backed conflict. Many participants also expressed their disapproval of U.S. President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their support of the Israeli regime.

In a related event, hundreds of people demonstrated in front of the U.S. embassy in Madrid, Spain, in support of the Palestinian people. According to TASS, the participants held Palestinian flags and protested against the U.S.'s role in the situation in Gaza. They chanted slogans such as 'This is not war, this is genocide' and condemned the actions of the Israeli regime and the United States in the region.

Some demonstrators held pictures of Trump and Netanyahu, holding them responsible for the ongoing situation, while calling for an end to the violence in Gaza. The conflict began on October 7, 2023, following a retaliatory operation by Palestinian resistance fighters against intensified violence by the Israeli regime in the West Bank. The war has resulted in nearly 51,000 deaths, including many women and children.
