Tehran:Chief Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army, Major General Amir Hatami, has stated that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until the rights of the Iranian people are acknowledged.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Major General Hatami attributed the recent conflict to the enemy's miscalculations, which underestimated Iran's military capabilities. Speaking at a ceremony at Imam Ali Officers' University, he emphasized that Iran's Armed Forces, including the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), responded strongly from the outset of the war.
Highlighting Iran's strategic position and control over the Strait of Hormuz, Hatami asserted that the strait was immediately closed following the onset of hostilities and would stay that way until Iran's demands are met. He refuted claims from the US president about weakened Iranian military capabilities, citing the continued missile and drone launches, as well as active air defenses, as evidence of strength.
Hatami explained that the IRGC Navy and the Iranian Army's naval forces maintain control over different sections of the strait, significantly restricting maritime traffic. He noted that Iran had enforced strict measures against any vessels violating its regulations, enhancing the country's defensive posture.
He further mentioned that the pause in hostilities was used to repair and enhance military readiness, while the enemy's military assets and bases had suffered significant damage. Hatami warned that any threats to Iran's infrastructure would be met with a powerful retaliatory response. He concluded by affirming that Iran's Armed Forces remain fully equipped and ready to defend the nation's borders.
