Tehran: Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson has sharply criticized the Trump administration for hypocrisy, pointing to contradictory messages from senior US officials regarding policy toward Tehran.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, in a social media post on Sunday, Esmaeil Baqaei juxtaposed recent remarks by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio with those of President Donald Trump to highlight what he described as the administration's double standards. Baqaei cited Rubio's suggestion that Iran should have invested more in its own people and nation rather than supporting regional allies and building up its military capabilities.
He then contrasted that directly with Trump's own words on US federal spending. 'It's not possible for us to take care of daycare, Medicaid, Medicare, all these individual things. We have to take care of one thing: military protection,' he quoted Trump as saying.
