Tehran Not Seeking Unethical or Domineering Use of Technology: Vice President

Tehran: Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref has dismissed claims about Iran’s misuse of technology, saying the country seeks to use technological advances solely to improve people’s lives, not for unethical or domineering purposes. Speaking at a meeting with managers of public goods distribution chains, Aref stressed the importance of resisting Western political manipulation in the ongoing nuclear negotiations.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Aref emphasized that the political behavior of the West in the nuclear talks is perceived as part of a broader political game. He stated, “We use technology for the well-being of our people, not for hegemonic ambitions.” Aref also addressed the Israeli regime’s war on Iran, highlighting the multifaceted nature of the Islamic Republic’s response across military, economic, and social fronts.

He noted that the outcomes on the economic and social fronts were equally significant as military achievements. Aref remarked, “Enemies intended to cripple our military on the first day and dismantle the government through public unrest the next. But the nation stood united, and there was only one voice: the voice of Iran.”

Aref praised the efforts of the economic sector during the conflict, acknowledging the role businesses played in maintaining societal calm by ensuring stable supplies of essential goods. He stated, “There was no panic-buying or looting. That was the result of tireless efforts by economic commanders who prioritized the needs of the people.”

He further mentioned that these efforts have not gone unnoticed by the administration and will be duly recognized. The conflict, initiated by an unprovoked attack by Israel on June 13, included the assassination of military commanders and nuclear scientists and air raids on civilian areas. The war concluded on June 24 after Israel requested a ceasefire following Iran’s retaliatory missile strikes.
