Araqchi Engages in Diplomatic Talks at S.C.O. Meeting in China

Tianjin: Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has met his Kyrgyz, Pakistani, Russian, and Uzbek counterparts Jeenbek Kulubayev, Ishaq Dar, Sergei Lavrov, and Bakhtiyor Saidov on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (S.C.O.) meeting in Tianjin, located in eastern China. Araqchi’s visit comes as part of a broader diplomatic effort to engage with regional partners and discuss pressing international issues.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araqchi left Tehran on Monday with a delegation following an invitation from Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The visit aims to foster deeper cooperation within the S.C.O. framework, addressing regional challenges and enhancing mutual understanding among member states.

Earlier, Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar shared via X that it was beneficial to meet with the Foreign Ministers of Iran, Uzbekistan, and Belarus on the sidelines of the S.C.O. Council of Foreign Ministers in Beijing. The discussions took place just before a joint meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Dar emphasized the importance of these exchanges in strengthening regional cooperation and understanding, especially during challenging times.
