Tehran: Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has issued a stark warning to US President Donald Trump, cautioning that the administration's latest efforts to isolate Iran's economy could have repercussions for the American economy and its taxpayers.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ghalibaf took to his X account on Sunday to criticize Trump's proposed initiatives. He shared a video illustrating how the economic pressure on Iran and potential disruptions in energy markets might eventually impact the United States negatively. Ghalibaf pointedly questioned the sustainability of Trump's economic strategies, particularly in terms of addressing broader economic issues beyond short-term fixes such as importing frozen meat to stabilize prices.
Ghalibaf's critique extended to Trump's handling of financial markets and economic policies, mocking the administration's potential strategies for managing bonds, housing, and wages. He emphasized that a stagnant foreign policy could lead to a stagnant economy, metaphorically suggesting that Iran's retaliatory measures might rebound against the US.
The warning from Ghalibaf follows Trump's declaration of launching the 'most crushing' economic campaign against Iran, urging international allies to support the initiative aimed at isolating Tehran's economy. However, Iran has dismissed these threats, labeling them as 'US economic terrorism.'
