Two Million Tourists Visit Iran Over Five Months, Reports Official

Tehran: Two million foreign tourists have visited Iran between March and August 2026, says Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Anoushiravan Mohseni-Bandpei. Mohseni-Bandpei mentioned this during the National Pilgrimage Committee meeting in Qom, highlighting that pilgrimage remained a primary reason for the influx of foreign visitors to the country.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Mohseni-Bandpei provided additional insights into Iran's tourism statistics. In 2024, Iran welcomed 7.39 million foreign tourists, with more than half of these visitors traveling for pilgrimage purposes. The Deputy Minister's remarks underscore the significance of religious tourism in Iran's overall tourism strategy.
