Two Oil Tankers Ablaze After Mine Explosion in Strait of Hormuz

Baku:Tehran Two oil tankers caught fire after hitting naval mines while navigating an unauthorized route in the Strait of Hormuz, according to reports from the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the incident occurred as the tankers attempted to transit covertly, having deactivated their navigation and identification systems. The IRGC's Public Relations office revealed that one of the vessels, a supertanker, was engulfed in flames due to a powerful explosion.

The IRGC has accused the US military of escalating tensions in the maritime region by misleading shipping and insurance companies, compelling them to use unauthorized routes. Iran has urged vessels to coordinate with the Persian Gulf Strait Authority to ensure safe passage through authorized routes in the Strait of Hormuz.
