Abu dhabi: The United Arab Emirates said its air force engaged an Iranian drone on Monday, following a recent US strike on Iran, which led to Tehran's retaliation. "The Ministry of Defense announced that the UAE Air Force responded to a UAV detected over the country's territorial waters, approaching from Iran," the Defense Ministry stated on X.
According to Deutsche Welle, the statement did not provide further details on the drone's target, or whether it was shot down. Earlier on Monday, Iranian state television claimed that US forces and helicopters were targeted with drones at the UAE's Al Minhad Air Base. However, the UAE Defense Ministry refuted these claims, stating that "such reports are false."
