US Attacked Iran Twice During Talks, Must Rebuild Trust: Pezeshkian

Tehran: President Masoud Pezeshkian says Washington must work to regain Iran's trust, which has been 'completely lost' after the United States attacked the Islamic Republic twice during diplomatic talks.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, during a phone conversation with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Thursday, Pezeshkian said Tehran considers recent US and Israeli strikes on Iranian infrastructure, including its safeguarded nuclear facilities, to be 'war crimes' and a violation of international law.

He emphasized that 'during the course of negotiations, the US and Zionist regime attacked Iran twice and there is a possibility of that happening again, which has caused Iran to completely lose trust in the United States.' Pezeshkian highlighted that the aggressive actions during the ceasefire discussions and talks, held in Islamabad earlier this month, have violated the truce between Iran and the US.

Pezeshkian stressed the need for Washington to cease its aggressive rhetoric and provocative actions to rebuild trust with Tehran. He urged for a serious negotiating process aimed at putting a 'definitive end' to the war. In his conversation, Pezeshkian expressed gratitude to Belarus for its supportive stance and called for expanding political, economic, and cultural cooperation based on mutual respect and shared interests.

Lukashenko, for his part, described relations with Iran as strategic and developing. He expressed concern about rising tensions in West Asia and conveyed hope that disputes would be resolved through dialogue.
