US Economy Faces Uncertain Future Amid Iranian Criticism

Tehran:In a recent exchange, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf reacted to statements made by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, sharing an economic-themed meme that questioned America's financial stability. The image depicted various economic indicators, such as oil and diesel prices, consumer confidence, and housing affordability, arranged to resemble a ghost, suggesting that economic fears could be as unsettling as Halloween frights.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ghalibaf's comments came in response to Bessent's claims that Operation Economic Outcast is yielding results. Bessent highlighted that the Iranian rial has fallen to historic lows, with Iran reportedly not loading any crude oil onto tankers last month. Additionally, Iran's top security official acknowledged the country's severe economic challenges.

David Zervos, a new special advisor to Bessent known for advocating interest rate cuts, was humorously referenced in Ghalibaf's post. Zervos, who has pledged not to cut his hair until the Federal Reserve reduces interest rates, was depicted in the background of the meme, adding a personal dimension to the economic debate.
