Tehran:Chairman of Iran's Expediency Council, Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli-Larijani, has criticized the recent defeats of US President Donald Trump and the Republican Party in the midterm elections, labeling them as humiliating setbacks for US leadership.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Amoli-Larijani commented on his X account during the National Day of Fighting Global Arrogance, known as Aban 13, that the losses in the elections symbolized a continuation of defeats for US leaders, stretching from military engagements to political contests, as the president and his party lost control of both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
Amoli-Larijani noted that the US president had acknowledged Iran's role in these setbacks and indicated a willingness to engage in conflict once more. He warned that this response exemplifies the arrogance that the Iranian nation has consistently opposed, describing it as a power that dismisses international law and public conscience, including the electoral will of its own citizens.
He emphasized that the political faction now in control of Congress is expected to maintain a similar foreign policy course, despite the election results, which he interpreted as a significant rejection of US warmongering policies. Amoli-Larijani suggested that the outcome serves as a referendum on such policies, urging the victorious party to understand and respond to the implications of this electoral message.
