US Prioritizes Trump’s Geopolitical Ambitions Over International Law: American Journalist

Tehran: The United States, under the leadership of President Donald Trump, is prioritizing its geopolitical aims over human rights and international law, according to American journalist Robert Fantina. In an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Fantina described the U.S. as a rogue nation driven by the unpredictable and unstable nature of its president.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Fantina criticized the U.S. for its breach of international agreements, specifically citing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (J.C.P.O.A.) with Iran. He noted that Trump’s erratic behavior was evident in his handling of the 12-day conflict, where the U.S. claimed to seek peace but resorted to military action instead.

Fantina also addressed the joint military campaign by the United States and Israel against Iran amid ongoing negotiations. He emphasized that both nations acted as if they were above international law, causing significant suffering and civilian casualties. Fantina highlighted that Iran, in contrast, targeted only military and economic centers in its defensive responses.

The journalist dismissed the notion of a preemptive strike under the guise of preventing nuclear weapon acquisition, stating that such actions violate international law. He pointed out that Israel and the United States are in clear violation, while Iran maintains its right to peaceful nuclear development as a signatory of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (N.P.T.).

Fantina further criticized the U.S. for its contradictory stance, initially claiming neutrality in Israel’s attacks but later fully supporting the aggression. He argued that the Israeli regime’s actions were likely coordinated with the U.S., which stepped in when Israel struggled to overpower Iran.

Discussing Trump’s diplomatic rhetoric, Fantina described it as part of an ‘unpredictability doctrine,’ which undermines effective diplomacy. He argued that Trump’s tendency to reverse statements creates global mistrust and destabilizes international relations.

Fantina also addressed the U.S.’s ‘peace through strength’ doctrine, characterizing it as repressive and exploitative. He argued that such peace, achieved through military and economic dominance, fails to consider the human suffering it causes.

In conclusion, Fantina expressed skepticism about the reliability of U.S. diplomatic efforts under Trump’s administration. He suggested that talks with the U.S. could serve as a cover for military actions rather than genuine diplomatic attempts. Fantina also indicated that ceasefire agreements with entities like the Israeli regime could not be trusted, as they often serve as temporary respites before further aggression.
