Velayati Condemns Israeli Regime’s Deadly Attack on Beirut

Beirut: Ali Akbar Velayati, Secretary-General of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening, has strongly condemned the Israeli regime’s repeated aggression against civilians in Beirut’s southern suburbs, warning that international silence amounts to complicity.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Velayati issued a statement late Monday criticizing the ‘silence of the international community in the face of the criminal behavior and crimes of the Zionist regime.’ He emphasized that this silence reflects ‘sympathy with this regime’ and cautioned that ‘the costs of such an approach will be imposed on them in the future.’

The statement highlighted that despite a ceasefire deal between Israel and Lebanon, the Israeli regime has not adhered to its obligations. It accused the regime of repeatedly violating international law and human rights through blatant ceasefire violations, acts of aggression, airstrikes, bombings, and targeting of civilian infrastructure and populations, including resistance commanders and civilians such as Lebanese women and children.

Velayati further condemned the assassination of Haytham Ali Tabatabai, labeling it ‘a treacherous and surprise attack.’ He asserted that this act violated Lebanon’s sovereignty and was an attempt to impose illegitimate demands while spreading fear and instability.
