Tehran: Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil Pinto has expressed appreciation for Iran's solidarity and support in defending Venezuela's independence in the face of US threats. During a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, the two officials focused on enhancing bilateral relations and discussed recent developments in the Caribbean region.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Pinto provided Araghchi with an update on the regional situation following what he described as escalating threats and unlawful claims by the United States against Venezuela. He highlighted the unwavering commitment of the Venezuelan government and its people to uphold their national sovereignty and independence amidst US pressures.

Araghchi criticized the United States for its actions, claiming that Washington's unilateral and confrontational stance poses a risk to global peace and stability. He dismissed the US allegations against Venezuela as unfounded and condemned any threats of military intervention.

The Iranian foreign minister reiterated Tehran's support for Caracas, confirming that Iran remains aligned with Venezuela in resisting external pressures.
