Tehran: First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Aref has described the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Tehran and Washington as a 'new beginning' for the great leap of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the consolidation of the country's position as a major global power.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, in a congratulatory message to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, on Thursday, Aref said that Iran gained a historic and strategic victory in this agreement.

The memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington was formally signed by the presidents of both countries early on Thursday, with the text finalized and the agreement officially in effect. It was finalized on Sunday, following weeks of intensive negotiations mediated by Pakistan, with support from other regional countries.

Aref attributed the Islamabad MoU to the wise guidance of the Leader, the resilience of the Iranian nation, the strength of the Armed Forces, the sacrifices of the martyrs, and the efforts of the administration.

He emphasized that the Islamabad MoU is not an end, but a new beginning for the great leap of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The vice president stressed that the administration's principled positions, which reflect the will of the nation, are based on the understanding that political achievements will be sustainable and fruitful only when they align with a 'resistance economy' in the light of national unity and security. This approach is in line with the concept of Wilaya (guardianship) and adheres strictly to the strategic guidance provided by the Leader, he added.
