Tehran: President Masoud Pezeshkian has emphasized that 'war is not always the solution', adding that Iran can overcome issues through prudence. Addressing a conference in Tehran on Wednesday, Pezeshkian praised the resilience of various segments of Iranian society during the recent US-Israeli war of aggression. 'But war is not always the solution,' the president said, emphasizing that issues that can be resolved through reason and diplomacy should not be dealt with through confrontation.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Pezeshkian added that Iran can navigate its current circumstances through 'prudence and thought' and move toward dignity and national pride. The president also hailed the Islamabad memorandum of understanding (MoU) as a source of pride for the Islamic Republic, saying global analyses have recognized Iran as the victor in the confrontation.
Referring to Imam Ali's (PBUH) directive to his governor, Malik al-Ashtar, on peace, Pezeshkian said a peace proposal from an enemy should not be rejected if it serves God's satisfaction, as peace brings relief to soldiers and security to the people and markets. At the same time, he stressed the importance of remaining vigilant after peace is reached. Pezeshkian noted that Imam Ali (PBUH), while advising the acceptance of peace, repeatedly warned against complacency, as the enemy could approach and launch a surprise attack.
He said the warning should not be viewed as opposition to peace, but rather as a call for prudence, sound judgment, caution and foresight. Although Iran does not trust the enemy, Tehran will seek to overcome the crisis through prudent measures, he said. The president noted that some forces do not want Iran to become a powerful country, but stressed that it can move forward through wise policymaking, adherence to the guidance of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, and coordination among the heads of the three branches of government.
Pezeshkian emphasized strength, unity, and domestic solidarity, adding that despite the pressure and the war, Iran has stood firm and will continue on its path.
