World Bullies Own Deadliest Weapons While Restricting Defensive Arms for Others: Ayatollah Khamenei

Tehran: Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has criticized Western powers for their stance on global armament, highlighting that they permit themselves to possess the most lethal and offensive weaponry while denying independent nations the right to own defensive arms.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, during a meeting with commanders and officials from the Armed Forces on Sunday, Ayatollah Khamenei expressed concern over the frustration of ill-wishers with Iran's advancements in several sectors, particularly defense. He emphasized the role of the Armed Forces as a protective shield and refuge for the nation against potential aggressors.

Ayatollah Khamenei praised the Armed Forces for their state of readiness, weaponry, and organizational strength. He urged them to implement both 'software- and hardware-related measures' to fulfill their 'national duty' effectively. He stressed the importance of software readiness alongside hardware to counter hostile efforts.

Addressing enemy plots against Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out the Islamic and independent nature of Iran's governing system as the root cause of external hostilities. He noted that it is not merely the name 'the Islamic Republic' that irritates adversaries, but rather Iran's determination to remain Muslim and independent, with a unique identity and self-reliance for its dignity.

The Leader further encouraged the Armed Forces to uphold their 'faith, courage, and trust in God,' noting that armies lacking these traits have historically faced failure. He acknowledged existing economic difficulties but emphasized that these should not overshadow the 'amazing progress' Iran has achieved.

Ayatollah Khamenei also addressed the bias of Western media against Iran, accusing them of reporting desired narratives as factual news. He called for a confrontation against this propaganda campaign.

The meeting also featured Major General Mohammad Baqeri, chairman of the Chiefs of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, who outlined the nation's defense and deterrence capabilities. Baqeri assured that the Armed Forces are fully prepared, supported by the nation, and will thwart any enemy plans.
