Tel aviv: Iranian-backed Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for launching a missile toward Israel early Saturday, marking their first involvement since the conflict in the Middle East began. The Israeli military confirmed that it successfully intercepted the projectile.

According to France24.com, the attack by the Houthis was unexpected by Israeli authorities, who speculated that the Houthis would only become involved if a ceasefire agreement was imminent. This development indicates a broadening of the conflict in the region.
