New York:Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with Tom Fletcher, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the meeting took place during Araghchi's visit to New York for the annual UN General Assembly session. Fletcher leads the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

While in New York, Araghchi has engaged in meetings and discussions with numerous foreign counterparts and international officials attending the UN General Assembly. The 81st session, which began on September 22, 2026, continues through September 28 at the UN Headquarters, focusing on major international developments.

This year's General Assembly session carries the theme 'Rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity: Accelerating action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards peace, prosperity, progress and sustainability for all.'
