Tehran: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi traveled to Doha on Wednesday to attend a ceremony paying respects to the former Qatari Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. Earlier on Sunday, the former Qatari Emir died at the age of 74. He ruled Qatar from 1995 until 2013, when he transferred power to his son, the current Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, in a message to the Qatari Emir on Sunday, Pezeshkian expressed his condolences on the passing of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. He also conveyed his sympathy to the government and the people of Qatar. Additionally, in an Arabic-language post on his X account on Sunday, Araghchi expressed his deep sorrow and grief over the passing of the father of the Qatari Emir.
