Tehran: Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has expressed strong criticism of the United States, suggesting that its recent actions bear resemblance to those of terrorist groups. Baqaei pointed out that for a country that once claimed to uphold the global order, liberalism, and the fight against terrorism, showcasing the destruction of civilian infrastructure appears to be its latest claim to success.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baqaei took to his X account to highlight the deliberate targeting of the Chabahar Maritime Surveillance Tower by the United States on June 16. This facility, dedicated to maritime safety and navigation, was allegedly attacked as part of the US's continued aggression, which began on February 28.

Baqaei further alleged that the US targeted power facilities and desalination pumps at the Bunji village pier in Jask, cutting off drinking water access for over 10,000 people. This incident, he claims, exemplifies the US's departure from its supposed role as a global champion of order and its descent into actions that damage civilian infrastructure.

He emphasized that with each destroyed bridge and civilian facility, it is not just physical structures that are being reduced to rubble, but the US's moral standing and the broader framework of international law and Western civilizational claims. Baqaei questioned the real difference between US actions in regions like Chabahar, Minab, Lamerd, and Jask, and the acts of terrorism that the US previously cited to justify its military interventions.
