Tehran: Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has stated that the path of Martyr Qassem Soleimani will persist until the liberation of the Holy Quds and the elimination of the Zionist regime. During an open session of the Parliament on Sunday, Qalibaf emphasized that Lieutenant General Soleimani, who was assassinated by the US government in 2020, dedicated over four decades of his life to combating aggressor enemies and terrorist groups.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Qalibaf declared, "The path of this great martyr will continue until the liberation of the Holy al-Quds and the elimination of the evil of the Zionist regime." He further noted that Soleimani's presence was a source of calm and confidence in the face of threats.
Qalibaf also acknowledged nationwide ceremonies commemorating the fifth anniversary of General Soleimani's martyrdom, expressing gratitude towards the Iranian nation, particularly the people of Kerman Province, for honoring General Hajj Qassem Soleimani. Soleimani is regarded as a symbol and hero of the fight against terrorism and a flag-bearer of the Resistance Front.
General Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), along with Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the second-in-command of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), and their companions, were assassinated in a US drone strike. The strike, authorized by then-US president Donald Trump, occurred near Baghdad's International Airport on January 3, 2020.
