Tehran: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf met with Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi in Baghdad on Wednesday evening to discuss the shared geographical and historical ties between Iran and Iraq. Ghalibaf emphasized that both countries possess unique opportunities in their bilateral relations and are creating unparalleled opportunities to play a significant regional role among Islamic and Arab nations.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ghalibaf recalled their recent meeting in Tehran and expressed gratitude on behalf of himself, the officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Office of the Supreme Leader to the Iraqi officials and people. He particularly thanked them for the funeral ceremony held for their martyred Imam, which saw over 10 million attendees despite challenging weather conditions. He also acknowledged the excellent arrangements made for this year's Arbaeen commemoration.

Highlighting the shared background and commonalities between the two nations, Ghalibaf noted that Iran and Iraq are connected through geographical, historical, and religious ties. As neighboring countries, they share common friends and foes. He reiterated that the unique opportunities within their bilateral relations could lead to unparalleled prospects through their regional roles among Islamic and Arab nations.
