Beirut: Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement has strongly condemned the assassination of Hussein Yassin Hussein, a member of the Houla municipal council, during an Israeli raid in Wadi Nahla, situated between Shaqra and Majdal Selm.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Hezbollah emphasized in a statement that the assassination, carried out on November 22, 2025, coinciding with Lebanon’s Independence Day, clearly demonstrates that the Zionist enemy is deliberately sending a hostile and direct message to the Lebanese government and its domestic institutions. They noted that this is being done by systematically targeting municipal workers, particularly in southern Lebanon, to undermine the role of municipalities and diminish their capabilities.
Hezbollah also noted that the recurrence of these assassinations for the fourth time in a short period is clear evidence of a systematic policy adopted by the Zionist regime to target employees of civilian institutions. They stressed that this amounts to a clear violation of international law and existing agreements, necessitating a firm response from the Lebanese government along with direct measures to deter and prevent the continuation of these attacks.
The group added that despite the repeated assassinations, international institutions have not taken any tangible action, raising serious questions about the commitment of the international community to support civilians and local institution employees.
Hezbollah stressed that targeting civilian employees is a red line and that attempts to intimidate municipal workers will only strengthen their resolve to perform public duties. They added that they will not allow the enemy to normalize these aggressions or turn them into an accepted policy.
