New delhi: India seeks to further expand its relations with Iran, the spokesperson for the Indian Foreign Ministry has told IRNA, highlighting cooperation and joint projects between the two countries in various fields.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Randhir Jaiswal spoke with IRNA's correspondent on Saturday on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS summit in New Delhi. Jaiswal emphasized the longstanding and warm relations between India and Iran, rooted in thousands of years of friendly ties between the two peoples. He expressed hope that these relations would continue to develop further.

During the conversation, Jaiswal also commented on the US war of aggression against Iran, stating that New Delhi seeks peace and believes that issues concerning Iran should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy. This statement underscores India's commitment to peaceful resolutions in international conflicts.

The interview took place as Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian attended the heads-of-state and government summit of BRICS on September 12 and 13 in New Delhi. President Pezeshkian arrived in India on Friday and held talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, signaling a continued strengthening of bilateral relations between the two nations.
