New York:Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi of Iran and Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein have emphasized the importance of implementing agreements on border security and countering terrorist activities effectively.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the meeting took place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session. Both ministers highlighted the significance of safeguarding their shared borders and reviewed cooperation in economic, commercial, consular, and security fields.

During the discussions, Araghchi provided updates on the shipping situation in the Strait of Hormuz. He reported an understanding between Iran and Oman to establish safe routes for commercial shipping, attributing existing insecurity in the Strait to the actions of the United States and Israel. Araghchi stressed that restoring security requires halting these destabilizing actions.

He urged regional countries to adhere to the principle of good neighborliness and prevent their territories from being used for illegal actions against Iran. Araghchi reiterated Iran's commitment to defending its sovereignty and national interests.
