New York:President Masoud Pezeshkian has arrived in New York to participate in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), where he will present Iran's perspectives and engage with other global leaders.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Pezeshkian was greeted at John F. Kennedy International Airport by Iran's ambassador to the United Nations, Gholamhossein Darzi, and other Iranian diplomats. His journey to the United States included a brief stop in Algeria for refueling before resuming on Tuesday afternoon.

During his visit, President Pezeshkian is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly, meet with various heads of state, and engage with Iranian professionals and residents in the United States. Additionally, he plans to meet American academics and think tanks.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his delegation arrived in New York a day earlier, on Monday. Araghchi has been actively engaging in bilateral meetings since Tuesday morning with several international counterparts.

The high-level session of the UN General Assembly commenced on Tuesday and will run through September 28, with participation from nearly 130 heads of state and government. Discussions will focus on critical issues such as global peace, human rights, sustainable development, climate change, pandemic preparedness, and AI governance.
