Iran-Azerbaijan Trade Thrives Amid Regional Tensions

Tehran:Trade between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan has increased over the past six months, despite challenges from the US-Israeli conflict, according to Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadeq. She emphasized the importance of enhancing infrastructure and overcoming obstacles to maintain this growth.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Sadeq's remarks followed a meeting of the Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Economic Cooperation Commission, attended by Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev in Tehran. The discussions focused on reviewing previously agreed issues and assessing progress on commitments.

Sadeq described the relationship between Tehran and Baku as friendly and strategic, highlighting Iran's commitment to advancing the Jolfa-Kalaleh road-widening project to boost transport capacity and bilateral trade. She expressed optimism about the potential to deepen cooperation across various fields.

Mustafayev noted that cooperation between the two countries continued to develop across different sectors, despite regional tensions. He affirmed that strengthening ties with Iran remains a priority for Azerbaijan. The discussions encompassed key areas such as trade, logistics, transportation, and energy.

The Azerbaijani deputy prime minister pointed out the increase in bilateral trade and freight traffic along the International North-South Transport Corridor. He also mentioned that joint projects are progressing, with recent developments discussed during the meeting. Mustafayev reiterated Azerbaijan's interest in expanding its relations and cooperation with Iran.
