Iran Celebrates Significant Achievements in Space Industry, Says ISA Chief

Tehran:Iran's Space Agency (ISA) chief, Hassan Salarieh, has highlighted the country's notable achievements in the space industry over the past two years, crediting domestic expertise for setting several records in the sector.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Salarieh, speaking at a Space Week ceremony at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, emphasized the strategic priority of expanding space applications in everyday life and the space-based economy. He attributed Iran's historic milestones to the collaborative efforts of various sectors, including the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, universities, research centers, and other space sector institutions.

Salarieh pointed to numerous active companies and government research centers, alongside the Iranian Space Research Center and universities, that are developing a wide range of products and services. One of the highlighted achievements was Nahid-2, Iran's first indigenously built telecommunications satellite, which has been successfully put into orbit and has completed most of its tests.

He also mentioned the successful performance of domestic space launch vehicles, including the Qaem-100 satellite carrier and Simorgh, and the Chamran satellite mission, which involved developing satellite attitude control algorithms and executing Iran's first orbital proximity maneuver.

Furthermore, Salarieh noted the development of high-resolution remote sensing satellites, such as the Paya satellite, placed into orbit last year, and the ongoing construction of more advanced generations. The Pars-2 satellite, an advanced version of Paya with imaging accuracy better than three meters, has been scheduled for launch.

Salarieh highlighted the government's strategy of incorporating private sector capabilities into the space industry, with three privately built satellites launched in the last two years. He also mentioned the Shahid Soleimani satellite constellation as a significant project under development by the Ministry of Communications.

In conclusion, Salarieh stressed the ongoing and accelerated development of the space economy as a strategic initiative, supported by collaboration among knowledge-based enterprises, research institutes, universities, and other stakeholders.
