Tehran:Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has lauded former Hezbollah secretary-general Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah as a unique example of courage and foresight in opposing occupation.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Sunday marking the second anniversary of Nasrallah's martyrdom, celebrating his contributions to defending Lebanon, supporting the Palestinian cause, and opposing occupation.

The ministry also paid tribute to other figures of resistance who were assassinated, such as Martyr Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, Martyr Qassem Soleimani, Martyr Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, Martyr Ismail Haniyeh, Martyr Yahya Sinwar, and Martyr Muhammad al-Ghamari. It emphasized that resistance against oppression and occupation is integral to their ideology.

Nasrallah, who led Hezbollah for three decades, was highlighted in the statement as a symbol of courage, foresight, and strength in challenging the Israeli regime and its American allies.

The statement also mentioned the ongoing necessity for dignified resistance, stating that the people of Lebanon, the region, and the world increasingly recognize the need to confront the occupation and aggression of regimes that disregard international norms and agreements.

In addition, the Foreign Ministry condemned the assassination of Nasrallah and his associates, including Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan, stressing the importance of prosecuting those responsible for the attack.

The statement reiterated Iran's support for Lebanon¾¢s independence, territorial integrity, sovereignty, and national unity, viewing a strong and independent Lebanon as essential for enduring stability and security in the region.
