Tehran:Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that Tehran is willing to reopen the Strait of Hormuz if the United States complies with specific conditions set by Iran. These conditions were conveyed indirectly to the US through mediators.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi emphasized that the conditions are not new but are consistent with the commitments the US made in the Islamabad memorandum of understanding, signed in June. This agreement was later unilaterally dismissed by the US administration.

Araghchi highlighted the demand for the release of Iran's frozen assets and the need to sell Iranian oil as fundamental rights that must be respected. Despite US President Donald Trump's public statements on the issue, Iran has not received an official response through diplomatic channels.

Iran recently offered to reopen the strait during discussions with a mediator from Qatar at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. However, President Trump announced that he had rejected this proposal.

The Foreign Minister reiterated Iran's commitment to self-defense while maintaining a willingness to engage in diplomatic efforts. He stressed that the choice between aggression and diplomacy rests with the US President, asserting Iran's readiness to face any potential conflict while expressing a preference for peace and prioritizing national interests over US political events.
