Iran Condemns Bahrain’s Citizenship Revocations as Human Rights Violation

Tehran: Iran has strongly criticized Bahrain's recent decision to revoke the citizenship of dozens of its nationals, describing the move as a flagrant breach of human rights. Esmaeil Baqaei, a spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry, stated that the Bahraini government's actions are based on unjustified pretexts and constitute a serious violation of human rights.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baqaei expressed concern over the Bahraini officials' approach, which involves imposing severe punishments against their citizens, including the revocation of citizenship. He highlighted that the rationale behind these actions-alleging sympathy with Iran and opposition to US and Israeli policies against Iranians-reflects a discriminatory stance by Bahrain's rulers towards their people.

Baqaei further criticized the Bahraini government for attempting to divert public attention away from its responsibility in supporting US-Israeli actions against Iran by engaging in what he termed as smear campaigns. This move, he argued, underscores the Bahraini authorities' efforts to shift focus from their involvement in regional conflicts.

Bahraini authorities have declared the citizenship revocations, citing the individuals' support for Iran during conflicts involving the US and Israeli regimes. This decision has sparked significant international attention and criticism from Iran.
