Iran Condemns US Pressure and Arrest Warrant for Raul Castro

Tehran:Iran's Foreign Ministry has expressed strong condemnation of the United States' actions against Cuba, particularly criticizing the sanctions and alleged intimidation of Cuban officials. The ministry described an arrest warrant issued for former Cuban President Raul Castro as both illegal and criminal.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Iranian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Tuesday evening denouncing the arrest warrant and the broader US policies towards Havana. The statement emphasized that the longstanding policy of sanctions, pressure, and intimidation against Cuba, lasting over seven decades, contravenes the United Nations Charter, international law, and human rights principles.

The ministry further argued that the US government should be held responsible for the adverse effects of its policies on the fundamental human rights of the Cuban people. Iran also expressed its solidarity with the Cuban government and its citizens, condemning what it termed as "criminal US actions."

Additionally, the statement underscored the importance of respecting Cuba's national sovereignty, independence, and the right to self-determination.
